Course Overview:
The P600 is a half day (8.30am-2pm) course designed to give you a foundation level of insight into LEV systems.
The P600 looks at the basic principles of LEV systems, including their components and measurement and testing techniques. You will gain skills and knowledge to help you in job roles that require the use of LEV testing equipment.
Completing the P600 on it’s own will not allow you to conduct Thorough Examination & Tests of LEV systems. This Level 3 qualification will however prepare you for taking BOHS Level 4 Proficiency qualifications (P601-4 series).
If you want to conduct Thorough Examination and Tests (TExT) of LEV systems, you will need to complete P601. It is recommended that delegates have completed the P600 before they attend the P601, so many choose to attend both at the same time. If taking both you may also want to consider the package with the optional maths course, as the BOHS has seen a number of people failing the P601 due to problems with calculations.
Booking must be made two weeks prior to the course date.
Gain knowledge and understanding of:
Basic components of LEV systems.
Qualitative visualisation techniques.
Quantitative measurement techniques.
Knowledge & understanding of practical application.
This course will allow you to make an objective assessment of the performance of a local exhaust ventilation system. If you would like to go on to run a TExT (Thorough Examination and Test), this is covered in the more advanced P601 course. Many people book to take P601 straight after P600 as the foundation knowledge gained in P600 helps them with this second course.
Prerequisites
You are not required to have relevant work experience to take this course, although it will be an advantage if you work in a role involving LEV.
Who should attend? You should consider the course if you:
Are responsible for operating or maintaining LEV systems, including if you are an engineer, manager, supervisor, equipment designer or technician.
Wish to train to become an LEV tester, technician or maintenance engineer.
Desire the basic level of understanding of LEV systems needed to progress to a Level 4 qualification (P601-4 series).
Assessment:
A written 30 minute closed-book exam with 20 short multiple choice questions to be completed. Once passed, you will be issued with a course certificate.
